A commercial motorcycle rider was swept away by floodwaters in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, after hours of torrential rainfall that began Monday night and continued into Tuesday morning.

The incident, which occurred along Uwenlenbo Road near Zekor Hotel, sparked panic after videos of the tragedy circulated widely on social media.

Viral Video Shows Rider Struggling

One of the videos showed the motorcyclist battling strong flood currents while carrying a female passenger. Eyewitnesses narrated that the woman quickly jumped off the bike and managed to escape, while the rider was carried away by the raging water.

Another clip captured passersby attempting to pull him to safety before he was eventually swept downstream. His motorcycle, with number plate Delta AGB 130 WL, was later recovered by sympathizers, who appealed for anyone who knows him to come forward.
