The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition, and narcotics in two coordinated operations, officials said on Tuesday.
The police disclosed that the arrests follow intelligence-led raids targeting cultism and drug-related crimes across Enugu State.
According to SP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer for Enugu State, two men—Mba Emmanuel (31), also known as “Indomie,” and Onukwube Nnam (35), “Nwa Amodu”—were arrested on January 19, 2026, in Awkunanaw, Enugu South.
The suspects reportedly admitted membership in the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, a notorious secret cult, with Mba allegedly serving as the group’s head and executioner in the area.
Police seized a pump-action gun, a locally made Beretta-type pistol, 31 cartridges, a large wrap of cannabis, a laptop, and a motorcycle during the raid.
In a separate operation on January 31, 2026, in Agbani, police arrested Ezeani Monday (32), who was found in possession of dried cannabis and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Eight suspects were initially apprehended, though the others were released after preliminary checks.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He warned individuals involved in armed robbery, cultism, and drug offenses to reform or face the full force of the law.
“Anyone engaged in criminal activities must turn a new leaf or face the full wrath of the law,” Giwa said.
The operations underscore ongoing efforts by Nigerian police to tackle cultism and drug-related crimes, which continue to pose security challenges in the South-East.
