Farmer Uncovers Newborn Buried Alive in Kebbi, Family to Welcome Miracle Baby

Kebbi State farmer Kabiru Kamba rescued a newborn baby girl buried alive in his farmland at Kamba, Dandi LGA, after noticing an unusual ridge on Friday, June 27, 2025. Alerting motorcycle riders and the police, he and officers carefully excavated the mound to reveal a wrapped infant, crying and alive.

Kamba recounted the unsettling scene to the state’s Gender-Based Violence Technical Working Group, who visited him at home on Monday, June 30. He described how, driven by compassion and the timing—his wife had recently given birth—he decided to care for the abandoned child until the authorities completed their investigation .

Police confirmed that the baby, who had been taken to Kamba General Hospital, is now medically stable and in the custody of Dandi Local Government, with investigations underway to locate her mother.
