FCT Police vow justice after Arise TV presenter Somtochukwu Maduagwu killed in Abuja robbery

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Arise News presenter and producer Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu during a robbery attack at her home in Abuja.

Ms Maduagwu, a rising face on Nigerian television, was fatally attacked on Monday at her residence in the Katampe area of the city.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale described her death as a “cruel and senseless act that has no place in a sane society,” while pledging to bring those responsible to justice.

Mr Adewale said a discreet investigation had been launched and ordered the deployment of intelligence and operational teams to track down the perpetrators.

“The command remains fully committed to ensuring that justice is served,” the commissioner stated.

He also urged Abuja residents to remain vigilant, raise immediate alarms in suspicious situations, and support the investigation by providing useful information.

The death of Ms Maduagwu has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s media community, with tributes pouring in for the journalist known for her professionalism and dedication.
