Fix Politics Director Slams Nigerian Leaders: “They Serve Their Pockets, Not the Nation”

Anthony Ubani, Executive Director of Fix Politics Initiative, has sharply criticized Nigeria’s political leadership, claiming that many politicians prioritize personal wealth over national development.

Speaking on Prime Time, Ubani condemned leaders who, he said, enter office with little to their name but leave having accumulated vast personal wealth, including mansions in Nigeria and overseas.

“Servant leadership means coming into power to serve the people and build the country,” Ubani explained. “Those currently in power are serving their pockets, not Nigeria. They are far too gone with corruption. They come in without anything, some not even a bicycle, and by the time they leave, they already have stored wealth for themselves.”

Politicians Under Fire for Corruption

Ubani’s remarks highlight growing frustration with perceived corruption among Nigeria’s political class, with critics arguing that mismanagement and self-enrichment have overshadowed public service. He stressed that ordinary Nigerians can see the discrepancy between the leadership’s promises and their actual conduct.

“The average person on the street can define what the current leadership is right about now,” he added.

Ubani’s comments come amid ongoing debates over accountability, governance, and transparency in Nigeria’s political institutions.
