Fresh Crisis Erupts in PDP as Expelled Wike-Led Faction Calls Emergency Meeting at Wadata Plaza

Tension is rising within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after members loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, summoned an emergency meeting—just 48 hours after their expulsion from the party.

The faction, led by Senator Samuel Anyanwu and other allies of the former Rivers State governor, announced the meeting through a notice issued on Monday. Despite being formally expelled during the party’s National Elective Convention held in Ibadan over the weekend, the group insists it remains the legitimate leadership.

The notice, signed by Anyanwu in his capacity as the factional National Secretary, directed members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) to attend the session scheduled for Tuesday at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

“Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed,” the notice read.

The move sets the stage for yet another confrontation in the long-running internal battle for control of the PDP, with both factions expected to dig in as the party struggles to stabilise after the convention.
