Galatasaray Plot Shock Move for Isak as Osimhen Transfer Hits Uncertainty

Galatasaray are preparing a bold swoop for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak if their bid to sign Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal collapses, sparking transfer buzz across Europe’s top leagues. The Turkish giants are reportedly weighing a formal approach for the Swedish international, whose 27-goal season has caught the attention of clubs across the continent.

Club insider and sports anchor Volkan Kılıç revealed Monday, June 16, that Galatasaray’s management is ready to “push hard” for Isak should negotiations with Napoli over Osimhen falter. Osimhen spent the 2024/25 season on loan in Istanbul, scoring 19 goals and helping Galatasaray win the Süper Lig title—a spell that left fans and executives alike craving a long-term deal.

Isak, 25, remains under contract with Newcastle United until June 2028, having joined the Premier League side from Real Sociedad for a club-record €70 million in August 2022. His standout campaign last season—netting 27 goals and providing six assists in 42 appearances across all competitions—has only boosted his market value, now reportedly north of €80 million.

Galatasaray face a financial and competitive uphill task if they hope to lure Isak away from Tyneside, especially with Newcastle expected to demand a premium. The Magpies view the striker as untouchable in Eddie Howe’s rebuild, particularly after qualifying for next season’s Europa League.

Osimhen’s situation, however, remains fluid. Napoli are open to selling, but demand a permanent deal worth at least €100 million. Galatasaray, despite their strong interest, may struggle to meet that valuation unless they offload key players or secure fresh investment before UEFA’s Financial Fair Play deadline at the end of June.

Turkish media outlets say Galatasaray have already opened informal talks with Isak’s representatives, though the club is keeping negotiations under wraps while waiting on Osimhen’s final decision. With the transfer window opening July 1, the next three weeks could determine Galatasaray’s attacking blueprint for 2025/26.

If Galatasaray do pull off an Isak deal, it would mark one of the most ambitious moves in Turkish football history—signaling the club’s intent to compete not just domestically but in Europe’s elite competitions. For now, all eyes are on Osimhen—and the backup plan that could shake the summer window.
