Controversy erupted online after Prophet Abel Boma of ATB Foundation claimed God had spoken in defense of Judy Austin, the second wife of actor Yul Edochie, warning Nigerians to stop judging her or face divine wrath—a message that has drawn outrage from fans of Yul’s first wife, May Edochie.
Port Harcourt-based cleric, Prophet Abel Boma, ignited heated reactions across social media platforms on Tuesday after releasing a video on Instagram where he said God gave him a prophetic message regarding actress Judy Austin. According to the prophet, the Lord instructed critics to “let her be,” adding that many who attack Judy are guilty of even worse sins in secret.
The video, posted on June 17, 2025, accused Nigerians—especially women—of hypocrisy, stating that many who drag Judy for being Yul’s second wife are also involved in adultery and the destruction of other people’s homes. “Some of you are sleeping with married men while judging Judy. The Lord says stop it,” Boma declared in the now-viral clip.
He claimed God emphasized that He alone decides who to bless and forgive, and urged the public to focus on fixing their own homes rather than pock-nosing into other people’s relationships. Boma said, “Your judgment means nothing. The Lord says make your marriage work and stop disturbing this woman’s peace.”
The prophet’s remarks instantly sparked backlash, particularly from “May Nation”—a devoted fanbase supporting Yul Edochie’s first wife, May. Many fans stormed the comment section of his post to call him out, accusing him of using God’s name to justify infidelity and moral compromise.
@henryumeadi fumed: “So God is giving you updates about Judy while people are dying from war and hunger? This is beyond ridiculous.” @queenmaynation added: “Normalize saying your opinion without lying on God. This is not prophecy—it’s public relations for Judy.”
Others sarcastically questioned the theological basis of the message. @omosunday4life asked, “So God supports polygamy now?” while @hog_wigs wrote, “Which Lord told you this? The Lord don suffer for una hand.” Despite the criticism, a few supporters hailed the prophet for “speaking the truth” and accused critics of bias.
Judy Austin, who has faced relentless online trolling since marrying Yul Edochie, has often spoken of being misunderstood. Her marriage stirred public outrage after Yul, who was previously married to May, revealed Judy as his second wife in 2022. The couple’s actions have remained a divisive topic online, further inflamed by spiritual endorsements like Prophet Boma’s.
