
A young Point-Of-Sale (POS) operator was shot dead by armed assailants at his workplace in Gboko, the headquarters of Gboko Local Government Area in Benue State, on Monday.
The shocking attack has left residents in fear and mourning. According to sources, the victim was attending to customers when unidentified gunmen stormed the location, firing at him during the robbery.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as sudden and terrifying. “It happened so fast. We never imagined such violence here,” one source said on condition of anonymity.
The attackers reportedly fled with an undisclosed sum of money, leaving the community in shock. Residents described the victim as a hardworking young man striving to make a living through his POS business and extended condolences to his family.
At the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, could not be reached for confirmation. Sources, however, indicate that an investigation into the incident has begun.
