Hilda Baci Begins Guinness World Record Attempt for Largest Pot of Jollof Rice in Lagos

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially launched her bid to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest pot of jollof rice, using an astonishing 250 bags of rice.

Baci, who shot to global fame in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, unveiled the ambitious challenge at Eko Hotels, Lagos, before thousands of cheering fans.

Ahead of the cook-a-thon, she was seen praying with her mother, asking for divine strength and endurance — a heartfelt moment that drew emotional applause from spectators. Many credited her mother as a driving force behind her remarkable journey.

Sharing her excitement online, Baci wrote:
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”

The event, initially slated for Muri Okunola Park, was relocated to Eko Hotels due to overwhelming interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.

If successful, Baci will etch her name into history once again, this time with Nigeria’s beloved jollof rice at the centre of her record-breaking feat.
