Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has stirred social media reactions after openly declaring that he would be comfortable in an open marriage.
Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, the Chocolate City star said many marriages lose their spark over time due to routine and a lack of sexual adventure. According to him, allowing a partner occasional freedom does not necessarily threaten the bond between married couples.
“I don’t mind having an open marriage. Most married couples don’t keep having the same amount of sex they were having at the beginning. It reduces,” he said.
Blaqbonez argued that if his partner seeks intimacy elsewhere while he is away on tour or busy with work, it would not bother him — as long as emotional loyalty remains intact.
“If somebody is satisfying her sexually while I’m hustling, touring, that’s okay. There’s more to marriage than sex. I don’t mind her sleeping with someone else provided she’s dedicated to me,” he explained.
The rapper added that his unique emotional connection with his partner could not easily be replaced by a “random person,” emphasizing that marriage should transcend physical attraction.
He concluded by revealing his unconventional marriage setup:
“If I’m even going to get married, I need two rooms. Me and my wife will only meet when we want to have intimacy.”
Blaqbonez’s remarks have sparked a wave of online debate, with many Nigerians questioning whether his perspective represents honesty or moral decay in modern relationships.
