Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has reportedly become the highest-paid actor in Nigeria, commanding up to ₦5 million per movie role, according to veteran filmmaker Mustapha Bakare Otolo.

Otolo made the revelation in a viral interview circulating on social media, where he discussed the widening income gap between veteran actors and the new generation of Nollywood stars.

Speaking candidly, he said many older actors struggle to finance cinema projects due to low pay, while Chatta’s value in the industry has skyrocketed.

“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest-paid actor presently,” Otolo stated.

He added that while Chatta can feature in up to 20 productions a month, some veterans only appear in one or two films, earning between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000.

Otolo also referenced his own experience working with Chatta on his film Jigi, shot in Ogbomoso, noting that the actor’s professionalism and brand value justify his high demand and pay rate.

The revelation has sparked conversation among Nollywood fans, with many praising Chatta’s consistency and talent that have kept him relevant across generations in the industry.
