Imo Tragedy: Two Brothers Arrested for Allegedly Killing Elder Sibling Over Father’s Death

The Imo State Police Command has taken into custody two brothers, Lucky and Uzoma Amadi, following allegations that they killed their elder brother, Orindu, and buried him in a shallow grave in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

The suspects reportedly tried to conceal the crime by telling neighbours that Orindu had travelled. However, growing suspicion arose after their accounts of his whereabouts conflicted and repeated attempts to reach him by phone failed.

On Tuesday morning, local youths stormed the Amadi family compound demanding explanations. An eyewitness, Chidiebube Okeoma, told journalists that the brothers allegedly confessed to the killing to avoid being lynched. According to the confession, the suspects accused Orindu of being responsible for their father’s death about a decade ago under questionable circumstances.

The suspects led the youths to the shallow grave where Orindu’s remains were exhumed. The situation nearly escalated into vigilante justice before police from the Mbieri Division intervened, following a tip-off from a private citizen.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities seeking to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
