The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a viral advert claiming that the Commission is recruiting for multiple positions, describing it as fraudulent.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the electoral body urged Nigerians to ignore the advert, which directed applicants to a fake website, inecrecruitment.com, to submit applications.
INEC clarified that it does not operate such a portal and warned that the scheme was designed by criminal elements seeking to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise asked would-be respondents to log on to a fake portal – www.inecrecruitment.com – to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal,” the statement read.
The Commission further stressed:
“INEC is not recruiting. We urge the public not to fall victim to the antics of these impostors.”
This warning comes amid growing concerns over the rise of online scams in Nigeria, often targeting job seekers through fake portals and fraudulent recruitment drives.
