Jerusalem, Israel — Tension gripped Jerusalem and central Israel on Tuesday as air raid sirens blared following warnings from the Israeli military of incoming missiles fired by Iran. The alert comes on the 11th day of escalating conflict between the US-Israel alliance and the Islamic Republic.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that defensive systems were activated to intercept the missile threat. Journalists on the ground reported hearing at least one explosion in Jerusalem shortly after the sirens sounded.
Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency services reported no immediate fatalities during Tuesday’s attacks but treated several people injured while rushing to shelters, along with individuals suffering from anxiety.
Since Iran began retaliatory missile strikes following joint US-Israeli military operations, at least 11 people have been killed and dozens more injured across Israel. On Monday, shrapnel from incoming missiles killed one man and seriously wounded another in central Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel’s offensive against Iran “is not done yet,” signaling no immediate end to the military campaign. The warning came hours after US President Donald Trump claimed the conflict would conclude “soon,” highlighting contrasting assessments of the war’s trajectory.
The situation remains volatile, with residents bracing for potential further attacks as diplomatic and military tensions intensify in the region.
