Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has intensified political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging residents to register with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) to actively shape the state’s political future.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Hajiya Zainab Shu’aibu Rabo, the governor described the PVC as a powerful democratic tool, stressing that participation begins with registration.
Governor Namadi encouraged eligible voters to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, noting that it remains open and accessible across the state.
“I encourage eligible citizens to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous PVC registration so they can participate fully in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
The governor also called on residents to formally join the APC, positioning the party as the vehicle through which Jigawa can consolidate political stability and development. He urged new members to complete their party registration and ensure they collect their PVCs without delay.
According to the statement, Governor Namadi appealed to party supporters to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing what he described as the President’s notable achievements and reforms since assuming office.
He further noted that the APC remains the dominant political force in Jigawa State and across Nigeria, attributing its strength to governance performance and grassroots impact.
Jigawa, the statement added, ranks among the states with the highest number of PVC collections nationwide, a development the governor said reflects growing political awareness and civic participation among residents.
With early mobilisation already underway, political observers say the call signals the APC’s determination to consolidate its grip on Jigawa ahead of the 2027 polls.
