The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JNAPD) and Nigeria Labour Congress Women’s Committee have called for stronger representation of women and persons with disabilities in Jigawa State’s recruitment processes and public policy planning.
During a courtesy visit to the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, the newly constituted JNAPD executive, led by State Chairman Hon. Adamu Shu’aibu Jigawar Tsada, urged the government to translate existing policies into tangible opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Shu’aibu highlighted the impact of the state’s disability fund, which has grown to over N90 million, stressing that it has empowered beneficiaries and should be leveraged further for inclusive governance.
Dagaceri welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed Jigawa State’s commitment to equal opportunity and inclusivity as a central pillar of civil service reforms.
In a separate visit, the NLC Women’s Committee, led by Chairperson Salma Iliyasu Abubakar, emphasized the need for increased female representation in government appointments across all levels.
Abubakar called for strategic collaboration with the state to enhance productivity and welfare for women workers, while Dagaceri assured full support for initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s leadership and participation in public service.
These engagements underscore Jigawa State’s ongoing efforts to deepen inclusivity, promote gender balance, and strengthen stakeholder collaboration in governance.
