Nollywood veteran Joke Silva has opened up about the perks of marrying older men, sharing insights from her enduring love story with fellow actor Olu Jacob.
The 64-year-old actress spoke on TVC’s program Your View, reflecting on her marriage to Jacob, who is 20 years her senior. The couple tied the knot in 1985, when Silva was 24 and Jacob 44, and have two children together.
“Older men allow you to get away with a lot of things,” Silva revealed, describing the dynamic in her relationship. She recounted their first meeting on a movie set, noting that while it was love at first sight for Jacob, she only realized his age later.
“Yes, we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew it was the great Olu Jacob who was coming, except me. When he came, we got on very well, and it was after we started dating that I discovered his age because he looked so good,” she said.
Silva’s candid reflections provide a glimpse into the private side of one of Nollywood’s most celebrated couples, highlighting a partnership that has lasted over four decades.
