Popular media personality and content creator Kolu has asked fellow entertainer Carter Efe for N7 million to secure the release of singer Portable, who is currently remanded in prison over criminal allegations.
The plea was made on Thursday during a livestream on Twitch, where Kolu explained that Portable played a pivotal role in launching his career in Lagos. “Portable brought me to Lagos, I come blow. Na him help my life,” Kolu said in Pidgin English, underscoring his gratitude and loyalty to the singer.
Portable was remanded on Tuesday by the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, following accusations of car theft and assault brought forward by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple. Reports indicate that he was reportedly handcuffed and beaten while in police custody.
The appeal has attracted attention online, highlighting the camaraderie and mutual support that often exists among Nigerian entertainers. Kolu’s public request also raises broader conversations about the intersection of celebrity, the legal system, and public advocacy in high-profile cases.
