Lagos APC Mocks Atiku as ‘80-Year-Old Political Tourist’ After Defection to ADC

The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress has launched a blistering attack on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar following his decision to join the African Democratic Congress at the age of 80.

Party spokesman Mogaji Seye Oladejo said Atiku’s latest political move reflects “desperation” and a long-standing “addiction to party-hopping,” arguing that the former PDP presidential candidate has turned his career into an endless search for relevance.

Oladejo, in a statement issued on Wednesday, questioned why Atiku was still switching parties at his age, saying Nigerians were justified in asking what he “is still looking for at 80.”

He accused the former vice-president of switching platforms more often than a “veteran footballer on a farewell tour,” and repeatedly contesting for the presidency “like a man chasing a debt, not a mandate.”

The APC spokesman argued that Atiku’s departure from the PDP was evidence of a failed leadership record, alleging that he left behind a party “in pieces” after years of internal feuds and crises.

Oladejo further claimed that Atiku’s move to the ADC was not a strategic reinvention but a “panic-driven attempt at survival,” insisting it underlined the expiration of his political influence.

“With a record of abandoned allies, fractured parties and repeated electoral defeats, how can someone who couldn’t stabilise the PDP now claim he can fix Nigeria?” he asked.

He added that Atiku’s latest realignment signalled yet another cycle of confusion and unfulfilled ambitions for the former vice-president, whose political future remains a subject of national debate.
