Victim rescued after three days in captivity amid business fallout

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six men accused of abducting their business partner in the Lekki area of the state following a financial dispute.

The victim, widely known by the nickname Senator, was allegedly held hostage for three days before being rescued by detectives on Friday morning.

According to police sources, the family raised the alarm after Senator failed to return home on Tuesday, prompting officers to track his phone signal to an apartment in Lekki.

“A rescue team was dispatched to the location where he was eventually found,” one officer said.

Investigators disclosed that during his detention, the suspects confiscated the victim’s phone, made withdrawals from his bank account, and subjected him to degrading treatment.

Preliminary findings revealed the men had engaged in a joint business deal with Senator, which reportedly went sour. The suspects allegedly resorted to abduction as a way of recovering their losses.

While the specific details of the business transaction remain unclear, police confirmed that the suspects are being interrogated and will be charged once investigations are complete.

When contacted, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said she had not yet been formally briefed but assured the matter would be addressed by the division handling the case.
