The Lagos State Government has announced the dates for the 2025 Trade Test, aimed at assessing and certifying the technical skills of artisans and technicians across the state.
According to the Director and Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Orunsolu Adebayo, the test is part of ongoing efforts to promote skill development and enhance employment opportunities in Lagos.
“The Trade Test remains a vital tool for improving productivity, expanding job opportunities, and driving socio-economic growth in Lagos State,” Adebayo said.
The theory examination will take place on October 18, while the practical component is scheduled for October 21, 2025.
The test will be conducted in three grades — Grade III, Grade II, and Grade I — to accommodate participants with varying levels of experience and expertise.
Designated examination centres include Government Technical College, Ikotun; Government Technical College, Epe; Skill Acquisition Centre, Egbeda; and the Lagos State Examinations Board headquarters.
The exercise will cover a broad range of trades such as tailoring, electrical installation, carpentry, hairdressing, and other vocational fields critical to Lagos’s fast-growing informal sector.
Adebayo urged all eligible artisans and technicians to prepare adequately and seize the opportunity to gain formal recognition and certification for their craft, noting that such credentials are increasingly valuable in today’s competitive labour market.
