Nollywood actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has opened up about her troubled marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, admitting that her mother, Rita Daniels, had warned her against the union but she ignored the advice because she was “deeply in love.”

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Regina pleaded with Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, insisting that her mother did not push her into the marriage and had always wanted the best for her.

“The main essence of this video is to please stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She’s my god on earth and has been strong for seven years,” Regina said tearfully.
“Everyone said no. My mom warned me, but I have a coconut head. I’m ashamed to say it, but I really fell in love. It’s wild, but I did.”

The actress dismissed claims that she married Nwoko out of greed, saying her family was financially stable before her marriage.

“We were not broke. What money can a man give a mother to sell her child who already provides for the family?” she asked.

Regina also revealed that the constant pressure and criticism surrounding her marriage once pushed her to contemplate suicide, but said she has chosen to remain strong for her children.

Her revelation has sparked emotional reactions online, with many expressing sympathy while others praised her courage for speaking out publicly about her struggles.
