Nasboi Slams Carterefe for Declaring Skit Making “Dead”

Skitmaker Nasiru Lawal, widely known as Nasboi, has criticised fellow content creator-turned-streamer Carterefe for describing the skit-making industry as “dead.”

Carterefe recently sparked debate during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, claiming he felt depressed because skit making was “dying” before he transitioned to streaming.

Speaking with Naija FM Lagos, Nasboi dismissed the remarks, arguing that Carterefe undermined an industry that played a pivotal role in his own rise to fame.

“Evolving is not a bad idea, but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books. Carterefe is my friend, we speak all the time, but he is a loose talker,” Nasboi said.

“You can’t say skit making is dead. People are blowing up every day through skit making. The fact that people evolve doesn’t mean the industries they leave are dead.”

Nasboi’s statement underscores a growing conversation in Nigeria’s entertainment scene about the value of skit-making as a platform for emerging talent, despite many creators diversifying into streaming and other digital content avenues.

The exchange highlights the tension between the traditional skit-making community and rising streaming platforms, reflecting broader debates over content evolution and industry relevance.
