NDLEA Uncovers UK-Bound Cocaine in Cream Containers, Meth in Water Heater — Raids Lagos Nightclub, Arrests Pretty Mike and Over 100 Others

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a major drug trafficking network smuggling cocaine and methamphetamine out of Nigeria, with the narcotics cleverly concealed in cosmetic products and household appliances.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the bust was part of a coordinated operation that also saw agents raid a popular Lagos nightclub hosting a suspected drug party.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, at Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island, led to the arrest of over 100 suspects, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike.

Preliminary investigations revealed that cocaine destined for the United Kingdom was hidden in containers of body cream, while methamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth or Mkpuru Mmiri, was packed inside a water heater.

Babafemi said NDLEA operatives acted on credible intelligence that linked the items to a transnational drug cartel attempting to ship the substances through courier and freight companies.

He added that the nightclub raid followed ongoing surveillance on locations used for drug distribution and consumption across Lagos. “The agency will continue to crack down on criminal enterprises that glamorize drug abuse and promote trafficking under the guise of entertainment,” he said.

The NDLEA noted that forensic analysis and further investigations are underway to trace the full network of traffickers, suppliers, and financiers involved in the operation.

The agency reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse and trafficking, warning that “no individual, regardless of status or popularity, will be spared when found culpable.”
