Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled several terrorist hideouts in Taraba State, marking another decisive victory in the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Jalingo, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, said soldiers from Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) launched a clearance operation on 14 October 2025 across multiple communities under Ibi Local Government Area.
The troops, deployed to Tapga Ngasawa village, targeted suspected terrorist camps in Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages. Upon contact, the soldiers engaged the terrorists at Badekoshi, forcing them to retreat toward Fajul village near a dense forest.
“The soldiers pursued the fleeing suspects with superior firepower, dislodging them from their positions,” the statement added.
A search of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and a Jincheng motorcycle believed to have been stolen during an earlier raid on Tapga village.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their courage and professionalism. He urged them to sustain the momentum until all criminal networks in Taraba are wiped out.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and working with other security agencies and community stakeholders to restore lasting peace in the state.
