Nollywood Actress Laide Bakare Sparks Outrage After Admitting She Introduced Daughter to Clubbing and Alcohol at 17

Nollywood star Laide Bakare has come under fire after openly admitting that she introduced her teenage daughter to nightlife and alcohol at the age of 17.

The actress made the controversial revelation during an interview with content creator Mr Lilgaga, where she proudly stated that her daughter would one day credit her for being the person who first exposed her to clubbing.

“I took my daughter to the club for the first time at 17. And I like the fact that in her memoir, she would reference me as the person who introduced her to alcohol and clubbing,” Bakare said.

Her comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from Nigerians who questioned her parenting style.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “Introducing a 17-year-old to alcohol and nightlife is reckless parenting, not cruise. At that age, guidance and discipline should come first, not clubbing.”

Another added: “Some of these people are not worth the pedestal people place them on. All this coming from someone who calls herself a mother.”

However, not everyone condemned her. Some argued that her decision could help foster openness between mother and daughter. One user wrote: “Low-key, this thing normal. At least her daughter will be free to talk to her about anything. If she no carry her go club, she’ll still go by herself and might even do worse things.”

The revelation has reignited debates about parenting, celebrity influence, and the exposure of minors to alcohol and nightlife in Nigeria.
