Popular Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Sarah Martins has been hospitalised after collapsing from what doctors have described as extreme exhaustion, sparking concern among fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
The actress disclosed the incident on her Instagram page on Tuesday, recounting a frightening health episode that began earlier in the day. According to her, she woke up unable to feel parts of her body and briefly feared she had lost consciousness.
Despite the warning signs, Martins said she forced herself to continue with work-related duties, including inventory checks at her shop and interviews for prospective staff. She later collapsed during the process and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
At the medical facility, doctors reportedly carried out more than 30 diagnostic tests, including screenings for cancer, fibroid, kidney and liver function, malaria and typhoid. All results came back negative.
Sharing her experience, the actress blamed prolonged overwork and neglect of rest for the health scare.
“All through December, I worked every single day. Even when my staff travelled for the festive season, I kept working. No days off, no stretching, nothing,” she wrote. “Just a walking corpse working tirelessly for others and forgetting myself.”
Martins added that doctors confirmed she was suffering from severe exhaustion and ordered her to observe complete bed rest.
“I am typing this from a sick bed, but I will be fine. The God that protects the vulnerable children I struggle for will never fail me,” she said, expressing gratitude for what she described as divine protection.
Following her post, fans, fellow actors and industry stakeholders flooded her social media pages with prayers and messages of support, urging her to prioritise her health and recovery.
Medical experts often warn that prolonged stress, lack of rest and overexertion can trigger sudden physical breakdowns, even when routine tests show no underlying disease.
