Nasarawa United head coach, Mbwas Mangut, has praised his squad’s resilience despite their narrow 2-1 defeat to reigning champions Remo Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

The Solid Miners were reduced to ten men in the 38th minute after attacker Umar Ada received a red card, forcing the visitors to play almost the entire match a player short.

Stanley Joseph opened the scoring for Remo Stars shortly after the hour mark. Teenage substitute Suleiman Dauda leveled the score seven minutes from full time, demonstrating Nasarawa United’s determination to fight back despite the numerical disadvantage. Michael Ibe netted a late winner for the hosts, securing the three points.

Mangut lauded his players for their courage and effort under challenging circumstances. “I am not really disappointed because we played almost the entire game with a man down after a first-half red card. We even pulled a leveler before conceding at the stroke of regulation time. I give credit to my boys for their bravery and resilience,” he said in a post-match interview with the club’s media team.

Despite the defeat, Nasarawa United remain third on the NPFL table with 37 points, maintaining their position among the league’s top contenders.
