The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to corps members across Nigeria, emphasizing that evasion of national service and breaches of scheme regulations will not be tolerated.

Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, Osun State NYSC Coordinator, delivered the warning during a familiarization visit coupled with the General Community Development Service meeting at Olorunda Local Government Area in Osogbo Township Stadium.

Corps Members Urged to Uphold Discipline

Kubiangha stressed that Nigeria’s development relies on active participation, responsibility, and commitment from each corps member. He said acts of evasion and indiscipline directly undermine the objectives of the NYSC program.

“The clarion call is for you to put in your quota to national development and not to be evasive during service,” he declared, urging corps members to respect authority, adhere to proper NYSC uniform regulations, and participate fully in mandatory exercises.

Infractions Carry Serious Consequences

The coordinator specifically warned against unauthorized travel, lending of NYSC uniforms to non-corps members, and failure to attend the mandatory monthly clearance exercises. He highlighted that such violations could attract disciplinary measures, including extension of service year.

Kubiangha further encouraged corps members to make tangible contributions at their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), ensuring their service aligns with the scheme’s core objectives.

Law and Order Within NYSC

Speaking at the event, Dolapo Stephen, Osogbo Zonal Inspector, reinforced the need for strict adherence to NYSC rules and regulations, noting that the scheme operates within a clearly defined legal and administrative framework.

As the NYSC continues to shape Nigeria’s youth into responsible citizens, this warning serves as a reminder that commitment, professionalism, and integrity remain the backbone of national service.
