NYSC Swears In 1,420 Corps Members in Osun as Adeleke Urges Them to Build National Unity

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially sworn in 1,420 graduate youths for the 2025 Batch B Stream II orientation programme in Osun State.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede on Friday, was presided over by the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim.

Agbor described the mobilisation as the beginning of “a memorable journey of service, patriotism, and nation-building,” stressing that the orientation course was carefully designed to instil discipline, resilience, civic responsibility, and leadership in the corps members.

He assured the new corps members that their safety remained a top priority, adding that the NYSC was working closely with security agencies and host communities. He also cautioned against reckless use of social media, warning that posting sensitive camp activities could breach security and undermine the scheme’s integrity.

“Be ambassadors of the Scheme and your family both online and offline,” he urged.

Adeleke: NYSC is Nigeria’s Enduring Legacy

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by Commissioner for Youth Affairs Moshood Olagunju, praised the NYSC as one of Nigeria’s most enduring legacies, noting its role in fostering national unity for over five decades.

He urged the corps members to take the service year seriously, describing it as a unique opportunity to contribute to Osun’s development.

“Whether in education, healthcare, rural development, agriculture, or community service, I encourage you to leave lasting footprints wherever you are posted,” Adeleke said.

He reminded the corps members that their conduct during the service year would reflect not only on them but also on the nation at large, urging them to serve with discipline, resourcefulness, and commitment.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s support for the NYSC and commended the scheme for its efforts in repositioning itself to meet national needs.
