Prominent businessman Obi Cubana has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid through the newly launched City Boy Movement, a youth-focused initiative aimed at educating and empowering communities to drive regional and national development.

Speaking during a meeting with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Cubana clarified that the movement is not a political party, but a platform for young professionals and entrepreneurs to support constructive engagement with the Federal Government.

“The unique thing about this movement is that it’s made up of young people, mostly businessmen, not politicians. Our goal is the betterment of our neighbors. Our people lack knowledge, and our work is mostly to educate, to give orientation, and to reorient them—to know whether they are well-acquainted with our collective path forward,” Cubana said.

He stressed the importance of unity and inclusivity, particularly for Igbo communities, emphasizing that development requires collaboration with the government. “Today, we believe in the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We, as young professionals and successful businessmen, have come out to tell our people that we are solidly behind Mr. President and his re-election bid. Any Igbo has to be taken to the center. We cannot always be doing divisive politics,” he said.

Cubana highlighted infrastructural priorities such as gas and rail connectivity, advocating for constructive engagement over opposition politics. “If we are all in opposition to this government, eventually we won’t be remembered. We stand on Bola Tinubu’s mandate. The City Boy Movement is about the progress of Igbo land. Our people lack knowledge, and it is my responsibility to educate them. We stand solidly behind Tinubu,” he added.

The City Boy Movement, according to Cubana, seeks to equip young professionals and communities with the knowledge and tools to engage meaningfully with government initiatives, ensuring that regional development is prioritized alongside national progress.
