The Federal Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission in Ogun State, Morakinyo Akinleye, has called on political actors, aspirants, and party supporters to focus on idea-driven campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.

Akinleye warned against campaigns marred by insults, misinformation, ethnic or subethnic prejudices, and personal attacks, stressing that such tactics undermine democratic institutions and erode public trust.

Promoting Decorum and Development

“The electorate of Ogun State deserves campaigns built on ideas, not insults; on programs, not propaganda; on vision, not violence,” Akinleye said. He urged candidates to present clear manifestos, participate in constructive debates, and offer measurable policies addressing residents’ needs.

The Commissioner highlighted critical areas that should shape political discourse, including youth empowerment, employment initiatives, community security, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and fiscal responsibility.

“Ogun State has long been recognized as a beacon of intellectualism, progressive thought, and political maturity,” Akinleye added, emphasizing that elections should reflect the state’s tradition of decorum, substance, and respect for the rule of law.

He concluded by urging all aspirants to ensure campaigns are inclusive, solution-oriented, and respectful of democratic principles, reinforcing the importance of credibility, transparency, and accountability in political engagement.
