The Ogun State Government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 additional operatives into the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, in a fresh move to reinforce grassroots security operations.

Governor Dapo Abiodun granted the approval as part of broader efforts to expand community-based policing across the state’s 20 local government areas.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Corps Commander, Alade Adedigba, and made available to journalists on Monday.

Recruitment Follows Last Year’s Expansion

The 2026 recruitment exercise comes after nearly 1,300 new operatives were enlisted into the Corps in 2025. According to Adedigba, the additional intake will deepen operational capacity, particularly in rural communities, border corridors, and identified security flashpoints.

He described the move as part of a deliberate strategy to consolidate gains in crime prevention, rapid response, and intelligence-led policing at the grassroots level.

“This recruitment initiative underscores the deliberate strategic security vision of the State Government, aimed at consolidating gains recorded in crime prevention, rapid response operations, and intelligence-driven policing at the grassroots,” he said.

Application Timeline and Screening

Interested applicants are to submit their applications free of charge through the official Amotekun website.

The application window runs from Thursday, February 26, to Friday, March 13, 2026.

Following the submission phase, a screening exercise is scheduled to hold between March 23 and April 8, 2026.

Adedigba advised prospective candidates to carefully review eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and physical standards before applying. He also warned members of the public against fraudsters demanding payment, stressing that the recruitment process is strictly free, open, and merit-based.

The development highlights Ogun State’s continued investment in strengthening local security architecture amid growing security concerns across parts of the country.
