A lone motorcycle accident in Osun State has left one person dead and another seriously injured, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 9:45pm on Tuesday in the Jagilegbo area of Ifetedo, along a busy township road. Two adult men were involved in the incident, which authorities say was likely caused by excessive speed.

According to a First Incident Report issued by the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Agnes Ogungbemi, the accident involved a single, unregistered black TVS motorcycle.

Preliminary findings indicate that the motorcycle was travelling at high speed before losing control. One of the riders died instantly at the scene, while the second victim sustained head injuries and multiple bruises.

Emergency responders arrived promptly, evacuating the injured rider to a nearby general hospital for urgent medical attention. The body of the deceased was later deposited at the Divine Haven Morgue in Ondo.

Confirming the incident, the Osun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, CC Leye Adegboyega, issued a renewed warning to road users, particularly motorcyclists, against dangerous driving habits.

He cautioned that overspeeding and the use of unregistered vehicles remain major contributors to fatal road crashes and urged motorists to strictly comply with traffic regulations to reduce avoidable loss of lives.
