The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended two men in connection with the theft and vandalism of telecommunications equipment at Eripa and Otan Ayegbaju.
The State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed that the incident was reported on December 9, 2025, following the discovery of stolen backup batteries at the sites by engineers from IHS Telecommunications Company.
The suspects, identified as 35-year-old commercial driver Arisekola and 50-year-old scrap dealer Alhaji Adedokun, have confessed to their involvement. Arisekola admitted transporting the stolen items to Adedokun, who confirmed purchasing 14 stolen batteries from the vandalised sites.
Two additional suspects remain at large, and the NSCDC has vowed to continue investigations to apprehend them.
Commandant Sotiyo emphasised the corps’ commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and safeguarding lives and property across Osun State.
“The command will not relent in its efforts to secure vital assets and ensure justice is served,” he stated.
