Suspect arrested as command says operation disrupts local distribution network
Oyo State Police Command says it has intercepted a cache of suspected illicit drugs during a targeted operation in Ibadan, recovering nine bags of cannabis and 101 wraps of dried leaves known as ‘Canadian Loud’, alongside other substances.
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade said the seizure followed intelligence that an apartment along Abanise Street, Academy area, Olomi, was being used to stockpile drugs for distribution.
The occupant, identified as Oluwadamilare Adedayo, was arrested at the address, according to the statement released on Sunday.
Ayanlade said officers acted on credible information indicating the premises were serving as a storage point for large consignments of prohibited substances.
“During the operation, nine bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 101 wraps suspected to be Canadian Loud, as well as other hard and illicit drugs, were recovered and secured as exhibits,” he said.
The command described the raid as part of its broader campaign to curb the use and circulation of banned drugs in the state, adding that the seizure has disrupted a suspected distribution chain within the area.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
