Oyo Police Launch Manhunt for Man Suspected of Killing Girlfriend in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for 29-year-old Quadri Mohammed, accused of fatally attacking his 26-year-old girlfriend, Precious Mogaji, in Ibadan.

Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed that officers began investigating the circumstances surrounding Mogaji’s death after a concerned resident discovered her lifeless at the entrance of her boyfriend’s apartment in the Oguntula area of Ojoo.

According to Ayanlade, the report came in at approximately 12:05 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Ojoo Division patrol team and incident duty officers. On arrival, police found the victim’s body lying at the doorway of the suspect’s room.

“The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged killing of 26-year-old Precious Mogaji,” Ayanlade stated. He clarified that the incident occurred in Oguntula, Ojoo, dismissing earlier reports claiming it happened in Akobo or involved a husband attempting to move his wife’s body.

Authorities documented the scene, carried out a preliminary examination, and photographed the body for evidence before transferring it to a hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Efforts to locate Quadri Mohammed, who fled the scene, are ongoing. The police urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward at the nearest police station or contact the Oyo State Police Command.
