Peter Obi Media Reach Rejects Claims of Transactional Politics, Fires Back at Tinubu’s Spokesman

Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has firmly denied allegations that former presidential candidate Peter Obi engaged in what it called “transactional politics,” responding to claims made by President Bola Tinubu’s spokesman, Daniel Bwala.

The controversy arose after Bwala alleged that Obi had attempted to reach out to him, a claim POMR described as “false and misleading”. Speaking through spokesman Ibrahim Umar, the group emphasized the need to clarify the matter for the public.

“Normally, we would not dignify Barr Bwala’s baseless accusations with a reply, given his well-documented history of dishonesty. However, we feel it is necessary to address this matter for the benefit of the public,” the statement read.

Obi’s Political Philosophy Highlighted

POMR stressed that Obi consistently distances himself from individuals associated with transactional politics, and prioritizes good governance and societal development over political bargaining.

“The Peter Obi that Nigerians know and appreciate will never engage in such practices. He would rather allocate resources to provide desks for children in Bwala’s village than pay him to concoct falsehoods for public consumption,” the statement added.

According to POMR, Obi’s approach focuses on persuasion and shared vision, encouraging voluntary participation from supporters committed to reform and the creation of a better Nigeria.

“His engagement emphasizes the urgent need for a collective effort to rescue our nation. He welcomes those who join him voluntarily, driven by the same deep-seated convictions,” the statement said.

Call to Action for Politicians

POMR also called on politicians accused of engaging in transactional politics to reconsider their actions, urging them to prioritize national interest.

“For the umpteenth time, we call on Bwala and others like him to count Peter Obi out of their greed, repent, and join us in the quest for a new Nigeria that is indeed POssible,” the group concluded.
