The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers believed to be behind a recent abduction in Toro Local Government Area, rescuing three victims safely during a coordinated midnight operation.
Police spokesperson CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, saying the suspects were captured following a distress call received on September 29, 2025, from a resident of Euga village.
According to Wakil, gunmen had abducted three men identified as Idi Umar, Idi Lawan, and Musa Lawal during the attack. However, swift action by the police and local security networks led to the victims’ safe rescue.
“A combined team from the Toro Area Command, Toro Division, Nabordo Division, and community security partners tracked the suspects to the outskirts of the village and executed a professional rescue operation. All three victims were rescued unharmed, and six suspects were arrested,” he said.
The arrested suspects were named as Abubakar Usman, Adamu Alo, Abubakar Aliyu, Umar Habu, Abubakar Mamman Abubakar, and Shehu Sambo.
Wakil added that the victims have since been reunited with their families in good health, while investigations continue to uncover further details about the kidnapping network.
“The suspects will be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) in Bauchi for detailed profiling and will face prosecution upon completion of investigations,” he stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents, urging members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities promptly.
