Rivers Governor Fubara Declares Peace With Wike After Prolonged Political Crisis

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says his relationship with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been fully restored following months of political turmoil in the state.

Fubara, who spoke to State House correspondents after meeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, insisted that political stability had returned to Rivers.

“The crisis is over. I don’t know what you mean by ‘paper peace’. As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together,” the governor said.

He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for mediating in the dispute that had threatened governance in the oil-rich state, assuring that Rivers people can now look forward to sustained peace and development.

The governor’s remarks mark the clearest sign yet that his bitter rift with Wike, his predecessor and political benefactor, has been resolved. Their feud, which sparked months of uncertainty and deepened divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had raised fears of instability in one of Nigeria’s most politically strategic states.

With the truce now confirmed, both camps are expected to work together to consolidate peace and governance in Rivers State.
