At least seven people have been hospitalised following a collision between two trucks that triggered a fire outbreak in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The accident occurred on Monday at Arinkinkin, Agric area of the city when a truck carrying grains collided head-on with another transporting unidentified chemicals. Both vehicles caught fire on impact.

According to the Oyo State Fire Service, emergency responders led by Chief Fire Marshal Oladejo Kola arrived promptly and contained the blaze. The truck loaded with chemicals was severely damaged, while the second vehicle was saved from total destruction.

Chairman of the state fire service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed that all seven victims—male residents who sustained minor injuries—were rescued and taken to Bowen Teaching Hospital by officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogbomoso Division.

“Vehicular movement has been restored and normal activities have resumed in the area,” Akinwande said in a statement on Tuesday.

The swift intervention of fire officials and the FRSC prevented further casualties and restored calm to the busy road, which had been temporarily disrupted by the accident.
