Residents of Woro in Kaiama LGA flee in fear as assailants strike in the dead of night, heightening security concerns in border regions.
Suspected Boko Haram fighters from the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction have launched a violent attack on Woro village in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, destroying homes and food storage facilities.
Security analyst and crisis journalist Bakatsine reported the incident via his X account on Wednesday, revealing that the assault occurred late Tuesday night.
According to reports, the militants stormed the rural community, setting multiple residences and warehouses ablaze, leaving villagers terrified and forcing many to flee.
Woro village is located near Kale, through Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, a region that has recently experienced rising security threats. The attack underscores growing concerns over militant activity spreading to vulnerable border communities.
Authorities are yet to provide official confirmation or casualty figures, but local sources describe the scene as chaotic, with residents appealing for urgent security reinforcements.
Security experts warn that the area’s proximity to border regions makes it particularly susceptible to cross-border militant incursions, requiring heightened vigilance and coordinated response.
