Tanker Blaze Sparks Massive Gridlock at Lagos’ T-Junction – LASTMA Confirms

A fuel tanker caught fire on Monday at the T-Junction inward Temu Epe, Lagos, causing severe traffic congestion across the area, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed.

Emergency Response Deployed

LASTMA assured the public that firefighters and traffic officials were on the scene to manage the situation. “There’s a burning tanker at T Junction inward Temu Epe but nothing to worry about as the firefighters are already on ground to put out the fire. LASTMA and FRSC officers are also on ground to ensure free vehicular movement,” the agency stated via its X handle.

Footage from the scene showed the tanker engulfed in flames, with thick smoke blanketing the junction. Vehicles, trailers, tricycles, and motorcycles were forced to divert to alternative routes as officers worked to maintain traffic flow.

Fire Contained, Tanker Destroyed

Follow-up videos confirmed that fire personnel successfully extinguished the blaze, which completely destroyed the tanker. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire.

LASTMA urged motorists to remain calm, follow traffic directives, and allow emergency services to continue securing the area.

Traffic authorities continue to monitor the location to prevent further congestion and ensure public safety.
