“Tell the World How I Betrayed You” — Kenneth Okonkwo Dares Peter Obi in Explosive Interview

Kenneth Okonkwo has dared Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, to publicly explain how he allegedly betrayed him, insisting he left the party with a clear conscience and did so without colluding with any rival politician. The former campaign spokesman made the challenge on Sunday, June 23, during a fiery appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

Accused of betrayal by supporters of Obi following his departure from the Labour Party in July 2024, Okonkwo pushed back, saying he remained 100% loyal throughout the campaign and never held private talks with any other political party. “If I betrayed Obi, let him come out and say how,” Okonkwo declared. “I never consulted any politician or party when I worked for him. I served with everything in me.”

The Nollywood actor-turned-politician stated he walked away from the party when it became clear Obi had lost control of its internal crisis. He cited the party’s festering internal battles, factionalism, and Obi’s refusal to decisively intervene as reasons for his exit. “I left the Labour Party when it was clear that there was no leadership direction anymore,” he said.

Responding to insinuations that he received money or property from Obi during the electioneering season, Okonkwo firmly denied ever benefiting materially from the former Anambra governor. “No house, no cash, nothing. I was never bought,” he insisted, describing his service to Obi as “sacrificial” and guided by principle.

Okonkwo also referenced a veiled biblical analogy made by Obi about betrayal, where Obi reportedly alluded to one of Jesus’ disciples turning against him. “If he thinks he is Jesus and I’m Judas, then he should say so clearly. But the fact is, you can’t betray someone you’re no longer working for,” Okonkwo fired back.

He noted that his decision to speak up wasn’t out of bitterness, but a matter of integrity. “I told the world I would no longer speak for him, and I have kept that promise,” he said. “I am only responding now because people are trying to rewrite the truth.” The legal practitioner said he will not let anyone tarnish his name for political convenience.

As the political dust continues to swirl around the former Obi ally’s departure, Okonkwo is standing his ground, challenging his critics and Obi himself to present evidence if they have any. “Betrayal is not walking away when the house is on fire and no one is reaching for water,” he concluded.
