Tems Makes History as First African Female Artist with Seven Billboard Hot 100 Entries

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has become the first African female artist to achieve seven entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her latest hit, What You Need, debuted at number 93 on this week’s chart, bringing her total Billboard Hot 100 entries to seven.

This milestone ties Tems with fellow Nigerian star Burna Boy and South African group Seether as the African artists with the most entries on the prestigious chart.

Tems first made history in 2022 when she became the first African artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with her collaboration Wait For U alongside Future and Drake.

The singer is expected to surpass the tie soon as J. Cole’s upcoming track Bunce Road Blues, featuring Tems and Future, is anticipated to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 next week, further solidifying her presence in the global music scene.
