Terence Crawford has beaten undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Álvarez by unanimous decision in Las Vegas.
A captivating fight went the distance as the pair slugged it out — Crawford hurting Canelo through the opening seven rounds, but the Mexican working his way back in as the bout reached a rousing conclusion.
The judges scored it 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.
Crawford (42-0) stepped up two weight classes to face Canelo (63-3-2), with his win seeing him become the first male fighter to win an undisputed title in three weight classes in boxing’s four-belt era.
Their fight was considered one of the greatest fights of the century.
Meanwhile, while fielding questions from the CNN during the pro m motion of his fight with Canelo, Crawford described the fight as one of the greatest fights of his life at 37. He however downplayed Floyd Mayweather- McGregor fights, disregarding it as mere exhibition fight.
