At least 23 killed in coordinated bombings as President assures Nigerians of military success against insurgents.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed all service chiefs to deploy to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, following a wave of deadly terror attacks that killed at least 23 people on Monday.
The attacks, attributed to suspected Boko Haram operatives, involved multiple suicide bombings across the state, prompting an urgent response from the federal government.
In a statement personally signed on Tuesday, President Tinubu expressed condolences to the people of Borno, assuring citizens that the Nigerian military is winning the fight against insurgents.
He confirmed that during a recent security meeting with heads of intelligence and security agencies, he approved additional equipment and operational support to strengthen military capabilities, a process already underway.
“I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. I have also directed the emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured,” the President stated.
Authorities are now mobilizing emergency services to assist the wounded, while intensified military operations are expected in Borno to prevent further attacks. Security analysts note that such direct presidential engagement aims to boost morale among troops and reassure citizens amid escalating terror threats.
The coordinated bombings represent a resurgence of Boko Haram activity in northeastern Nigeria. Citizens and local authorities are urged to remain vigilant as the federal government implements strategic measures to curb insurgent operations.
