
Governor Hope Uzodinma has inaugurated members of the Imo State Judicial Service Commission (JSC), charging them to uphold justice, fairness and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The ceremony took place at the Expanded Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Owerri, where the governor described the judiciary as the backbone of democracy and urged the new commissioners to see their appointments as a sacred responsibility.
Uzodinma told the appointees that the credibility of any democratic system rests heavily on an independent and committed judiciary.
“The strength of democracy rests on a committed and independent judiciary,” the governor said, stressing that their roles should be viewed as a sacred trust.
He reminded them that authority is divinely entrusted and must be exercised with humility, unity and strict adherence to the rule of law.
According to the governor, the law establishing the Judicial Service Commission aligns with democratic principles and is designed to strengthen the justice system in Imo State, while sustaining public confidence in government institutions.

Uzodinma urged them to work in unity and remain steadfast, describing them as the “voice of the voiceless” within the justice system.
Speaking on behalf of the commission, Louis Alozie, SAN, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing the appointment as a call to integrity and strict compliance with the oath of office.
He pledged that the commission would not be influenced by social media narratives or external pressures but would instead act according to conscience and the law.
Alozie also acknowledged previous controversies surrounding the state judiciary, assuring that the commission would work to restore public trust through fairness and decisions that can be defended “before God and man.”
He further assured the people of Imo State that the Judicial Service Commission would operate transparently and above reproach.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the state government’s efforts to reinforce judicial reforms and rebuild confidence in the justice system.
