The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State has lost one of its prominent figures after Hon. Mohammed Bello, a former senatorial aspirant for Yobe Zone A, announced his resignation from the party.
Bello confirmed his departure in a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Gwange, Damaturu, describing his exit as a personal liberation.
“This decision has not come lightly; it follows considerable reflection on my personal values and the direction of the party. After much deliberation, I have concluded that it is in my best interest and that of my community to step away from the party at this time,” the letter read.
The politician, who submitted his membership card along with the resignation, said he was grateful for the opportunities and relationships he gained while in the APC.
Bello, who pulled out with several of his supporters, framed his decision as an act of freedom, stating that he was leaving to “come out from bondage.”
His resignation adds to the undercurrents within the APC in the run-up to the 2027 general elections, raising questions about shifting political loyalties in Yobe and the wider North-East.
